Course Overview
This qualification, CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, is specialised in Disability. A disability support worker provides personal, physical and emotional support to people with disability and helps them feel independent and confident and a part of their community.

Modes of Delivery
This course may be offered in a variety of formats:
- Face-to-face: Training sessions are led by highly experienced trainers with extensive qualifications. Through this form of instruction, learners will be able to complete the programme while receiving direct help and guidance from their instructor.
- Online: Regular scheduled training sessions will be conducted by trainers through Zoom in this learning mode, which is similar to face-to-face instruction but on an online platform and allows for flexibility in the students' learning.
- Blended: Due to the hybrid nature of this mode, students will have more flexibility to conduct the course at their own pace. Learners will be required to attend online sessions and face-to-face workshops to conduct training and assessment.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
You may be eligible for credit if you have relevant prior experience/qualifications.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for the qualification, however, you must have:
- USI (Unique Student Identifier) number
- A valid and current email address
- A completed LLN assessment (Language, Literacy & Numeracy test)
- Have access to a reliable PC, laptop or tablet computer
- Access to a reliable internet connection and word processing software such as Microsoft Office suite

To gain a full qualification, a total of fifteen units must be completed comprising of nine core and six elective units.

Industry Placement
It is compulsory to complete 120 hours (minimum 20 hours per week) of work placement within an aged care organisation. Work placement organisations will be introduced by Brighten Institute.
Work placement requirements:
- Up-to-date vaccinations (COVID-19)
- Clear and current National Police Check
- Working with Children Check (upon request)

Completion/Certification
Students who successfully complete all 15 units of competency will be issued with CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability). Students who successfully complete some units of competency will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the unit(s) in which they have been deemed competent. Successful completion of this course may gain you recognition towards Certificate IV in Disability Support.
