Course Overview
This course equips individuals with the key skills and knowledge to recognise and effectively respond in emergency situations. Students will gain expertise in performing CPR techniques and basic first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines.
Learners may select one of two course options: classroom delivery (face-to-face training and assessment), or blended delivery (online coursework and face-to-face assessment).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible to enrol, learner must:

- be a minimum of 14 years of age at commencement of training
- undertake an online LLN assessment prior to the commencement of the program
- have access to reliable PC, laptop or tablet computer
UNITS OF COMPETENCY
This skillset consists of 3 units of competency.
COMPLETION / CERTIFICATION
On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SoA) in:

- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
The units of competency within this skill set are recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
RENEWAL
To renew your certification, the SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council require first aid skills to be renewed every three years, and CPR skills to be renewed every 12 months.
You can renew your first aid and CPR certification by completing a refresher course with an Australian Registered Training Organisation: the course must include practical skills assessments.
