Course Duration: This course is delivered in 1-2 sessions, depending on the delivery mode chosen. 

Mode of Delivery:  

• • Blended: Self-paced online + 3-hour face-to-face assessment session. Learners must complete online coursework prior to attending a 3hr assessment-only session at one of our training venues. Learners have a maximum of 2 weeks to complete the online content and are ineligible to attend an assessment session until they have completed all modules.

• • Classroom: Attend 1 day of face-to-face training and assessment (3 hours of training, 3 hours of assessments, total of 6-hour class). All work done in class, no online modules. 

Units of Competency: Learners who successfully complete this course will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for 3 units of competency: ‘HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation’ (to be renewed every 12 months), ‘HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support’ and ‘HLTAID011 Provide first aid' (both to be renewed together every 3 years). 

There are no entry requirements for the qualification, however, you must have: 

• • USI (Unique Student Identifier) number 
  • A valid and current email address
  • Completed a LLN assessment (Language, Literacy & Numeracy test) 
  • Have access to a reliable PC, laptop or tablet computer
  • Access to a reliable internet connection and word processing software such as Microsoft Office suite. 

Achievement of this unit provides credit towards healthcare qualifications within the HLT Training Package. 

On successful completion of this unit, you will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SoA) in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. The units of competency within this skill set are recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.   

Renewal: To renew your certification, the SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council require first aid skills to be renewed every three years, and CPR skills to be renewed every 12 months. 

You can renew your first aid and CPR certification by completing a refresher course with an Australian Registered Training Organisation: the course must include practical skills assessments.
