Course Overview

This course equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to practice responsible sale, service, or supply of alcohol. All staff of licensed premises in Australia who serve / supply / sell alcohol must have completed this nationally recognised Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) unit of competency.

 

This RSA course is valid for work in ACT.

 

RSA Information if you are not a permanent resident of NSW

 

If you do not permanently live in NSW, you may complete this course and do not need to do the NSW Bridging course. The bridging course is only for people who move to NSW to live permanently.

COURSE DURATION

This course can be completed in one day, however, learners will have up to 3 months to complete the course. Please see T&Cs for details of course completion and course access expiry.

This course is delivered 100% online. Learners may complete the course at their own pace, engaging with the content when they like and for as long as they choose. The course progress is saved, allowing learners to pause and return to their learning without losing any work.

LEARNING PATHWAYS

This unit is eligible for credit transfer towards Certificate and Diploma qualifications from the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.  

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

This unit is a mandatory licensing requirement for all roles involved with the sale, supply, and service of alcohol across Australia, in industries such as tourism, travel, hospitality, events, wineries, distilleries, packaged liquor delivery, and other industries involving alcohol sale and service. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no entry requirements for the qualification, however, you must have: 

    • USI (Unique Student Identifier) number 
    • A valid and current email address
    • Completed a LLN assessment (Language, Literacy & Numeracy test) 
    • Have access to a reliable PC, laptop or tablet computer
    • Access to a reliable internet connection and word processing software such as Microsoft Office suite 

 

You must not be living in NSW permanently. 

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

To successfully accomplish this program, students must complete the following unit of competency:  

COMPLETION / CERTIFICATION

On successful completion of this unit, you will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SoA) in SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol. This unit of competency is recognised  under the Australian Qualifications Framework.  

RENEWAL

Statements of Attainment issued for completion of nationally recognised training do not expire. However, some state / territory industry regulatory bodies may require RSA training to be renewed/refreshed after 3 – 5 years; please check the website of the liquor regulator in your State / Territory.
