This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Entry requirements
To be eligible to enrol into this course, learner must:
- be 18 years old or older
- obtain a police check
- have an ability to complete work placement
- ensure the stable network connection through any type of devices including PCs, laptops, tablet PCs and smartphones (self-pace study – distance activities)
- Upon acceptance of your enrolment, you will be required to complete the electronic Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
Duration
Up to 1 year including 120 hours (3 weeks equivalent full-time hours) compulsory work placement as listed on the course timetable.

Assessment methods
Summative assessments may include written/oral questions, practical/observational assessments, and project works with discussion

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Completion / Certification
Learners who successfully completed all units of competency and 120 hours (3 week equivalent full-time) work placement with documentary evidence from the residential care centres approved by BIA will be issued with a nationally recognised Certificate.
This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
